I am leery of fruit flavoured brews. But I hear that blueberries are good for you, and of course Fats Domino found his thrill up on blueberry hill, so perhaps this ale will be an exception, or even exceptional. MacLean’s had pleasantly surprised me with a very tasty English Brown Ale, so there is hope.
A golden ale with a nice bright pour, nice white head. A bit hazy. A fresh ale aroma, with just a hint of the berry. A very nice flavour with just a touch of blueberry. They have mastered the art of subtle with this brew. A very drinkable ale, not hoppy, nice finish. Well balanced with a bit of the berry, not a bunch or a burst. Just the right amount of berry flavour to complement the ale flavour.
Fruit yes, but not fruity. Once again Maclean’s delivers the goods, this time in the way of a very refreshing drinkable flavoured beer.
