500 mil of Holsten pil to swill while I chill and grill.
Thank goodness for the BBQ, man’s excuse (opportunity) to quaff a cold one before dinner. According to The COMDB Guide to the Fine Art of BBQing, well done is well done. So if I want this chicken to be crispy, guaging by my grilling to swilling speed, I am going to need at least a 500ml brew. Checking the beer fridge for international fare I come up with a Holsten Premium pilsner from Germany, where the pilsner was invented, purity laws intact. Does it matter that the Carlsberg Danes own Holsten-Brauerei these days? Not to me or the chicken it doesn’t.
Golden clear pour with a nice thin head. A light malt aroma. True to its aroma, a nice refreshing light malt flavour, with a bit of bitters on the finish. The bitters gave way to an easy drinking pilsner with a nice mouthfeel, refreshing. A nice beer for slaving over a hot grill. A good solid traditional pilsner. Chicken’s crisp, beer is done. Another successful BBQ with thirst quenched and no explosions or third degree burns.
