Innis & Gunn Lager Beer

Innis & Gunn

4.6% Alcohol

Despite a disastrous tasting with their Scotch Beer I gave Innis & Gunn a second chance with their Scottish Lager, which sounded good. Poured with almost no head, just a wisp of white like the last few strands of hair on a cranky old crown. I remember my old buddy RA telling me to never trust a beer with no head, When it comes to craft brews you are good to heed his advice. And naked oats, what the hell is that all about?

Pours very clear, no carbonation whatsoever. Reminds me of very strong beers although this one weighs in at 4.6%. A very clean aroma, not sure what that means, it didn’t smell like Lysol, just maybe crisp with the lager/malt flavour not too pronounced. First swig rendered a crisp very clean taste. Clear as in slick, with a watery mouth feel. No head, no bubbles, no hops and and no finish. Tasted like a big brewery lager rather than a crafty crafter. It just didn’t have the feel or flavour of some of the better craft lagers.

A mediocre lager, as if it was crafted for the masses.
