A BeaverTail from BeaverTails®
Amber Amour yes, Hazel Amour™, we shall see. Whitewater have brewed this in collaboration with BeaverTails®, those being the pastry variety rather than the large rodent slapping the water to warn others of danger variety. If you aren’t familiar with the iconic Canadian tasty pastry known as a BeaverTails® you are missing a sweet treat. How it will translate into a stout is a whole other matter which we are about to address. Whitewater did a good job on their Pumpkin Spice Porter, the pumpkin being a useless round orange blob of a fruit that I have no time or taste for, and yet they managed to brew a pleasantly pleasing pumpkin spice porter.
This brew pours dark dark with a negligible sliver of a head. A substantial stout style pour. A very nutty aroma with a touch of chocolate in the background. I never fancied myself as a Nutella nut but this nutty aroma actually smells quite tasty.

A Beaver Tail from Nature
It is no surprise that it tastes sweet and nutty, with the stout in the background. Chock full o’ nuts, sans caffeine. It tastes good now, but it is the type of taste that may wear thin, we shall see. Hazelnutty with a bit of a fizz on the finish. It is quite tasty. A light stout background with a hazelnut sweet front and center. The mouthfeel is more dark lager than stout. Come to think of it the flavour has a dark lager fullness supporting the sweets and nuts. Whitewater tells us that this brew is sweet and nutty and they ain’t lyin’.
It does wear a bit thin by the end, death by sucrose, but it stood up pretty well. A sweet and NUTTY stout.
