Potentially the game that decides who will be the next Stanley Cup Champion, and yet it is an insignificant game because the Leafs aren’t playing. The Habs beat the Lightning in OT, doing their best karaoke of the BeeGees “Stayin Alive”.

So I pour a nice looking lager called Helles. They say this lager was inspired by traditional German light lagers. I thought Helles was a Greek reference, but it turns out Helles or “hell” is a traditional German pale lager beer. The German word “hell” can be translated as “bright”, “light”, or “pale”. Turn off the hell, it’s too hell in here, you look like hell in the hellish hell. He wasn’t too hell. Maybe I am taking some liberties in translation?

There was another reason for supposing this was a Greek reference. The winged Wellington boot on the can seems to be a tip of the hat to the winged sandals of Hermes of ancient Greek legend? It is all Greek to me. And of course the Wellington boot, once a symbol of British aristocracy, is now the same boot that our farmers wear to keep cow shit off their pant legs. Rubber boots.

Too much trivia for one review. Luckily it was all worth it. This is a great tasting lager. Good flavour, easy drinking. Crisp as a fresh chip, which was what I was dipping as I quaffed this refreshing lager. Another well done to the Wellington team.
