High Grades for High Grade

High Grade

Fairweather Brewing

6.2% Alcohol

If I’m talking about high grade it’s more likely in reference to motor oil than my academic achievements. Fonger could be at the corner store (in Canada any corner these days) shopping for some high grade. Miners like high grade but aren’t too fond of high grading.* But if you’re Fairweather you’re talking about their mainstay IPA, brewed with “a fat bag of hops” for this hazy juicer. Let’s see what kind of grade this High Grade garners.

A bright orange hazy pour, with a bright white bubbly head. Being bright can certainly help with your grades, although when it came to multiple choice luck rather than studying was my strategy. A very nice tropical juice aroma with some hops in their for good measure, smells good enough to drink! The taste is fruit and hops in a symbiotic, assumed platonic (no screwin’ around here), relationship. An equitable partnership of tropical juices and hops. Nice balance. Juicy, a bit fizzy. Not hoppy results in a smooth finish with just a touch of dank on the backend.  Great fruit body, mild hops, this is one high grade performance.

No need to mark on the curve. This brew has no problem making the grade.

*Editor’s Comment: In mining the grade of an ore body is the concentration of the desired mineral it contains. The practice of high grading has dual meaning. It can mean mining the higher more profitable ore first. It can also mean stealing ore (usually gold) from a mine.

Final Rating: This Brew Makes the Grade at 16 out of 20
