A bit of a theme going on here between the beer name and the brewery, so it seemed like a good brew to have while watching the Leafs. Unfortunately, the game was postponed and perhaps this tasting should have been as well.
Nice light golden pour, minimal head even though they advise you to “keep your head up”. Almost no aroma to it at all which seemed odd to me. First swig was not a pleasant one, there was an odd aftertaste that I couldn’t put a finger on. Perhaps something from the locker room? That taste seemed to dissipate as this morphed into a rather bland lager, the only redeeming quality being it was a cold beverage. It reminded me of a dozen other lite beers from the big breweries. I expect after playing a game of hockey and working up a powerful thirst you could crush a few of these in record time, which seems to be what they are suggesting the main purpose of this brew is, so fair enough. But if you are watching the game and use to quaffing craft brews and looking for some flavour, this lager just doesn’t deliver much in that department.
