I have certain expectations with a Pale Ale, which this brew did not meet. Unfortunately this ale isn’t as smooth on ice as the Great One was. In the world of hockey I wouldn’t put this ale in front of the net, I would put it in the corners, a bit chippy and rough. Even though it is technically a fluid, it is definitely not as fluid as some brews or the Great One himself.
They describe this beer as captivating and approachable, like the Great One. What they didn’t explain is that Gretzky is captivating on the ice and approachable off the ice. Two traits that aren’t necessarily complementary or concurrent. Maybe that explains why the caramel/citrus combination just doesn’t work for me. Caramel on the ice, citrus off. Maye this analogy doesn’t work either. Seems like nothing is working today.
Pale colour but a little too crisp and choppy. Brewed at Pellers, beer from vintners. Maybe they stomped the hops for too long?
