According to the fine folks at Flying Monkeys Meep Morp is, and I quote “the peaceful greeting of the hop-hybroids sharing their alpha-advanced cryo-charged civilization with our water-rich planet”. A High-Density Hop-Charged IPA they tell us. Sounds like there was a sale on hyphens at the local thesaurus. It also sounds like a bunch of over-hyphenated hogwash to me. So I did some fact checking and it appears there is no such thing as hop-hybroid aliens. I thought not.

But what did pique my curiosity was a new IPA from the FM troupe. Not the wicked witch’s creepy flying monkeys, but the creative and curious Barrie based brewer. The self-same group that began my love affair with the genre.*  FM usually does a fine job on IPA’s so regardless of the over-use of hyphens, the crazy back story, the goofy name or the crazy graphics, I was expecting a taste treat, and I was not disappointed.

A hazy golden hue with a fulsome froth makes for a beauty pour. A very juicy aroma, smells super tasty. First taste is very tropical juicy, a little hoppy, a little fizzy with a nice mouthfeel too. It is guilty as hop-charged, with 6 different hops and three different dry hops contributing. But not hoppy, the 40 IBU is probably a good number for it. I’ll tell you what it is, it’s well balanced. I’ll tell you something else it is, it’s delicious.

This beer may just be of alien origins because it’s out of this world.
