How Cool Is This?

Figo

Henderson Brewing Co.

5.5% Alcohol

Due to my keen deductive reasoning (spidey sense), and since this is an Italian style pilsner, I surmised that the word Figo is Italian and it turns out I am correct. Apparently Figo is Italian for “cool”.*

My Figo poured clear and light golden with wisps of white where the head usually is. It has a mid-range malt aroma with some slight graininess. First taste was malt flavour and crisp, not at all hoppy, with a slightly bitter finish. Refreshing with a nice flavour, but a slightly acidic aftertaste that persisted, it didn’t leave things in ruins, but it detracted a bit from an otherwise nice tour of Rome.

If you are looking for Henderson’s best you best try Henderson’s Best which I wholly heartedly agree is Henderson’s best.

*Editor’s Comment: The word “cool” is an especially ubiquitous slang word. As well as being understood throughout the English-speaking world, the word can be found in the vocabulary of several languages other than English. In Italian “Che figo” means “ it’s cool”. However depending on the context, it can also refer to an attractive man, “Che figo” also means “he’s hot”. “Figata” means “super cool”, and “strafigo” means “Way cool”. However be careful with your pronunciation because “figa” in Italian is a vulgar way of referring to female genitalia, which isn’t cool.

**Editor’s Comment: Love the picture, che figo.
