I remember going to school and all the cool kids wearing jeans and my mother would make me wear those baggy rust coloured corduroy pants because they were warmer and lasted longer. I suspect she also had ulterior motives and was hoping I wouldn’t fall into the cool crowd. Earlier this year I couldn’t make it to a function because I had contracted Covid. A friend of mine said “all the cool kids have already had it.” It was bad enough to get Covid, but finding out I still wasn’t one of the cool kids was even worse. Your plan worked Mom. Where was I? Oh yea, corduroy.*
So here we are in some warm comfortable New Ontario English corduroy. A golden amber pour, reminiscent of those hideous corduroy pants of mine, but the colour looks good on a beer. A bit hazy with a white cliffs of dover head. A malt aroma sans hops, a slightly earthy malt. First taste is that same earthy malt with a nice mouthfeel and a smooth finish with no bitter, well done. A touch of a fruit finish to contrast the earthy malt body. Great fit for a cool summer evening. Not an everyday or everyone brew but interesting and unique, dare I say complex**. I dare.
