Fergies
If you are thinking of the attractive member of the Black Eyed Peas, or the Duchess of York, or the Montreal Canadiens enforcer in the 60’s, then you are thinking of Fergie.* If you are thinking of the Rocky mountains, skiing and the birth place of Alex Lifeson,** now you are thinking of Fernie.
Fernie BC is near the Alberta and Montana border, and this brewery is named for its hometown and this beer is named for the headwall land feature that is the scenic backdrop to the area.
This pale ale pours a hazy mountain sunset yellow orange with a white as a ski slope headwall head. Tropical fruit and a hint of hops on the nose, it smelled so tasty that I dove headlong into this headwall like a black diamond run.*** It starts out fruity and fizzy, with the hops and fruit blended together rather than in sequence. All mild and well balanced, very tasty. A consistent fruit based pale ale that is delightfully refreshing. You never know what you will get with a pale ale these days, but this was one refreshing summer super suds quaff from Fernie, not Fergie.

Fernie, beauty eh.
