The Titanic and the Edmund Fitzgerald. Two nautical disasters for the passengers and the crew, but James Cameron and Gordon Lightfoot did OK by them. Then there was the HSS Minnow, a ship wreck where everyone survived but by the end of the third season we all wished they hadn’t. I have a theory about Gilligan’s Island, I figure they weren’t found for 3 years because no one ever looked for them because they were such an irritating bunch.
How about this dry hopped IPA? Is it really a disaster or is it an Oscar winner? They say it is a “triple “C” hop citrus bomb” loaded with “lifeboats designed for ten” and “pairs well with big anchors”. Gibberish I say. Maybe someone was adrift at sea and drinking the salt water?
Nice golden pour, a bit hazy but not enough to mention, although I guess I just did. Nice white head. A bit hoppy, a bit citrusy, a bit bitter. It has the feel and body of a 6.4% beer. Not a real dry finish, but a good flavour. All in all a well-balanced IPA. Next time I am around big anchors and looking for a lifeboat for ten, I will be thinking of a Nautical Disaster.
