March Madness April Mildness

Samuel Adams Postseason IPA

The Boston Beer Company

4.5% Alcohol

When it comes to College roundball the season that culminates with madness in March is now over. Madness it was with brackets broken all round. As my granddaughter would say “girls rule, boys drool”. Yes, the girls took the boys to task this year and we all learned that maybe the girls don’t dunk that often but they sure can shoot that ball. It was rainin’ threes, nothin’ but net.

The NBA is about to enter the postseason and the Celtics are playoff bound. No doubt a few Boston Beer Company brews will be downed during those home games. Unfortunately Fonger’s Raptors (when they are losing they are Fonger’s Raptors, when they are winning they are my Raptors) will spend post season on the golf course or filming Gilette shaving commercials.*

Anthony Black and Gradey Dick swapping jerseys.

By the way, why on earth would Gillette have Gradey Dick, a 19-year-old blond guy, in a shaving commercial?  I expect the kid could wash his 48 hour beard off with Clearasil. No offense intended,** I mean the youngster is a great addition to the team and might be a challenge to an opposing defense, but I doubt his peach fuzz is much of a challenge to a straight razor.

As for this Sam Adams sessionable postseason special, it has a bright golden glow with a slim trim shaving cream white head. A great looking pour. Very mild tropical fruit aroma with some hops in there somewhere. The taste is mild fruit, mild hops, mild fizz and a bit of a funky finish.  It has a little bit of everything but everything it has is just a little bit, which is what we should expect from a session IPA. March madness has given way to April mildness, but it still has enough flavour so you know you’re drinking an IPA. I enjoyed this Boston based and brewed beer, exactly what you want in a session IPA.

*Editor’s Comment: In 2022 the Raptors struck a deal with Gillette and the shaving company has featured different Raptors players in their ads, most recently Gradey Dick and Gary Trent Jr.

**Editor’s Comment: When people say “no offense intended” my experience is there is usually some offense intended.
