Not that Decew Falls.
A COMDB site visit to Decew Falls (the brewery not the nature walk), and a sight for thirsty eyes it was. In addition to their standard fare, there was a Draft Pick Porter on tap, which turned out to be my first round draft pick.
Some people think about what adult beverage would go well with their meal. I on the other hand think about what food would go well with my beer. A bacon grilled cheese sounded like a perfect pairing with a pint of porter, and a hearty heart healthy alternative to any salad on the menu.
A perfect porter pour, basalt body, tan head held high. A strong malt roast aroma, no shrinking violet this one, or any other fawning flower for that matter. It has a nitro smooth mouthfeel with strong roasted malt and cocoa flavour, followed by some espresso backend bitters. A flavourful and very tasty porter lover’s porter. Even though it’s strong. It’s smooth enough to be a big swigger. The strong roasted malt is balanced with a big cocoa sweet as the espresso bitters mellow a bit. Great balance and sequence.
