There is no harm in trying to emulate a great stout like Guinness. That being said if you do take on that daunting task be prepared to be compared.
Another nitro stout (I recently reviewed Cobblestone Mill Street) and as I open the can there is a no pop or a pffft, just a little poof. That may have been foreshadowing this tasting.
Nice creamy dark pour, nice effervescent cream coloured head. An OK aroma, a bit of cocoa perhaps, but a bit flat, not a strong statement. A watery mouthfeel, which did not match the thick pour. The taste is there but a bit thin. A bit of a neutered nitro? It is an easy drinking stout, a bit of a subdued flavour, and a flat finish. Not what I would call “silky-smooth” but still an enjoyable enough quaff. This one is horses for courses, if you find a Guinness or Cobblestone harsh this may be your pint of stout.
