Vimy Brewing is dedicated to brewing “true Canadian beer that celebrates everything great about Canada”. I’ll drink to that! * The brewery is named after the World War 1 battle site of Vimy Ridge where Canadian forces achieved a decisive victory, but at a high cost. ** Unfortunately, the war to end all wars didn’t.
We made a virtual visit to Vimy Hill 145 last Remembrance Day. Time for another toast to those who gave the most.
A black cat pour, no nitro evolution or even head on this one. A strong roast malt nose, a stout, no doubt about it. First quaff is a strong roast malt going into mild cocoa with an aggressive espresso bitters finish. Not really balanced, and not smooth, but certainly tasty. The espresso backend is a touch harsh, which makes for a strong finish.
A good solid standup stout, no doubt.
