I didn’t do it. Really, I didn’t.
Unleashed, hounds released, and High Park is off to the dog races with their award winning Off the Leash.* Who let the dogs out? George and I cannot tell a lie, it was me. **
English IPAs are a little more malt forward, while West Coast hops are fruitful. With a high IBU as well, this looks to be an interesting mix of a little bit of everything. I checked the kitchen to see if the sink was still there.
One could say whenever I’m drinking I am off the leash, so to speak. But I did have to take a tasting time out to walk our flea-bitten leg-humping buffalo breathed pint size excuse for man’s best friend. Out on the leash to colour some snow (the dog not me). A tasting half time show that was about as good as the Super Bowl one this year.
A darker IPA this, almost a ruddy reddish complexion. With a picture-perfect froth, it certainly presents itself well. A ruby red grapefruit cocktail. Very juicy and some malt funk on the nose, boozy? The taste is juice and malt with a very subtle hoppy refreshing finish with a touch of aftertaste bitters. At first I wasn’t sure about this one with lots going one here, but it grew on me. Nice mouthfeel, juice and malt in balance, a nice variation on the traditionally malt forward English IPA.
Off the leash may be in violation of most park bylaws, but as far as High Park goes it’s not just legal, it’s desirable.
