Broadhead aren’t giving us the gears when they name their oatmeal stout Oatmeal Stout. Coincidence? I think not. There is very little mystery to this glass of stout, but don’t worry, I’m still going to get to the bottom of it. They tell us to “work hard, drink easy”. Been there, done that.
Seems like a fitting brew for a Leafs come from behind OT victory against the Florida Panters. How about those Leafs! All these reviews are honest and unsolicited but an exciting win during a sampling never hurts, does it.
A pour as black as a Quaker’s cloak, cape and cap*, with a slim not broad head. A traditional roasted malt touch of cocoa aroma. First taste is a roasted malt with a touch of coffee and a touch of cocoa sweet with slight coffee bitters on the finish. Very well balanced. A smooth quaff with a nice mouthfeel. The traditional oatmeal stout, smooth slightly sweet and tasty. And far too soon this mystery is solved.
If you are a stout lover you will love it, if you aren’t now, after this brew you may become one.
