Our Editor throws more shade than a streetlamp at midnight.* Me, I’m a live and let live kinda guy, a mellow fellow. The old duck once told me that if I didn’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all. That philosophy is sometimes a bit of a challenge when it comes to cranky reviews, luckily with this brew it’s not an issue.
Daft and their fearless flamingo are back in the fray, this time with their Throwing Shade dark lager. Time to shed some light on this dark, to see if we have shades of super suds gone by, or just a shady character.
A deep dark pour, intriguing, inviting, and in my glass. The aroma is tag team dark cocoa and roast malt, smells tasty. First swig is a smooth roast malt and cocoa with a nice full mouthfeel and a clean crisp finish, with a very mild bitters aftertaste. It is full flavoured and at the same time easy drinking. An ideal roast malt and cocoa sweet balance happening here. Consistent malt with a cocoa infused lager sweet throughout. Great beer.
No shade throwing here, just throwing back one great beer
