Not today, no not today. Or any day for that matter. First of all a light IPA sounds like an oxymoron. Where is the IPA bite, the snap, the crisp? Or as my old buddy Rick would say, the Zing.
My recipe for how to make an Any Day at home; one cup traditional IPA with one cup water = 1 pint Any Day. I know that’s not how it’s really made (I certainly hope not), but the point is it just tastes like a watered down IPA. No crisp, no mouth feel, just some remnants of what may have been once a proud and zingful IPA, reduced to a 4% Fresca. I didn’t find it refreshing or enjoyable. There is a lesson to be learned here. Light doesn’t necessarily mean easy drinking. Side Launch’s Midnight Lager is dark, full of flavour, and smooth. This beer is as harsh as this review.
