Me: I’m reviewing a London Pilsner today.
JT: I thought the Euro brew tour was done and dusted?
Me: Not that London. It’s the London on the Thames River, just North of Westminster near Stratford, up the road from Windsor… You know, that London. *
Just to be clear, this pilsner, one of their all-organic line of brewskis, is from London Brewing out of London, Ontario, Canada. This brew is Certified, Bonafide and qualified. ** They say they elected to be “Operated democratically”, and that sure gets my vote. Time to fill-ibuster my glass with some home-grown suds and exercise my right to free speech with a brew review.
A clear golden beer tulip of a pour, a proud pils, head held high. It has a lite appley fruit aroma. First taste is malt sweet with a crisp bitter finish, bitter forward not quite balanced but the sequence works well. Fresh malt leads quickly into big time bitters but with a mild bitter to sweet malt aftertaste. Bitters are playing nice, aggressive but not at all acerbic. The big swig test results are in. A success! Contrary to some suds this one actually smooths out some of the bitters with a big swig.
Canada Day 2026 may be in the books but on a hot day at the cottage with a cold beer, every day is Canada day for me.
