There's No Way of Knowing

Sawdust City Brewing

6.2% Alcohol

A “Sweet lady spring swoops in and softly serenades us” saison from Sawdust City?   An alliterative introduction to this unicorn frolicing through a flowery field of hearts and rainbows springtime suds. The name There’s No Way of Knowing is in reference to what the future will hold. Doris Day dealt with the question but never answered it with her response “Que sera,  sera”. *

When it comes to the future, well, you never know,  you know. But one thing I do know, is you’ll never know if a beer is good or bad unless you blow off the froth and have a quaff. I guess Alvin was right, the future is now! **

A clear wheat field gold pour. You won’t find that colour in any rainbow, maybe in a pot at the end of one? With substantial cumulus cloud cover predicting some impending spring showers. A citrus grainy bubbly aroma. First taste is very lemony, with floral arrangements and a fizzy finish. Citrus and floral in a battle royal. Unfortunately the flowers are winning.  FTD has delivered big time, and with a bit of a boozy bite showing up at the end.

In trying to review this brew the word grissette came to mind, and not in a good way if there ever was a good way to say grissette.  Probably not a crowd favourite and the lemon to  too strong floral combo didn’t do it for me either. And now you know.

Spring has sprung a leak with this one. Thank goodness summer is here, and not a moment too soon.

*Editor’s Comment: Doris Day had a 1955 hit with the song Que Sera. "Que sera, sera. Whatever will be will be. The future's not ours to see, Que sera,  sera."

* COMDB Translation Department Comment: The song writers exercised their literay license on this one. "Que sera sera" - whatever will be will be " was meant to sound Spanish, but is not proper grammar in either Italian or Spanish or French. It has become an English pseudo foreign idiom.

**Editor's Comment: Although the saying " the future is now"  is not specifically attributed to Alvin Toffler, it was a principal theme in his 1970 book "Future Shock ".

Final Rating: Now We Know it's a 10 out of 20
