Mill St. has certainly embraced the healthy beer drinking* market, with another in their line of Organic offerings. I like Mill St and their beers, particularly their amber lager, so I set the bar (pun intended) high for them.
Nice summer evening, chilled glass and a powerful thirst, nuts in the bowl, and a Mill St brew in hand, Everything in place for a high rating. But just like their organic pilsner, this lager is an average outing. They played it safe, nothing special, just a straight forward lager. Not that I didn’t enjoy the quaff, I did. But in a way it was a bit of a disappointment because I expect more from the mill. Ok flavour, a bit of bitter and that was about it. Not the smoothest quaff for a light ABV brew. It needs a touch more flavour, a dash more smoothness, and a pinch of freshness, all rolled together in some unique combination to make it special. So it doesn’t rank up there with some of the best lagers. But it is organic, whatever that means, so they have that going for them.
