I’ve noticed a trend lately for marketers to try to try to make you feel good for doing something you were going to do anyways. The last one was Coors with their drink beer to save water campaign. Here is Lake of Bays with a similar “do good” pitch … you can drink the beer and contribute to Algonquin Outfitters at the same time. I don’t see any reason to combine them. If you want to help Algonquin, go for it. Maybe rent a canoe? Or give a donation. Whatever.
If you want to drink a beer, this one is actually pretty decent. A nice citrus flavour at the start, crisp and clean drinking. It has the flavour profile of an IPA alright. You can taste hops in this one and the rich, amber colour is a bit cloudy, but still looks great in the glass. An impressive, flavourful, session IPA. A good choice if you like the hoppy flavours without overwhelming alcohol levels.
I felt good drinking it, with or without the Outfitter connection.
