All you Star Wars* geeks will recognize the name of this brew. In the immortal words of Yoda (George Lucas actually) “Do or not do, there is no try.” Sawdust tells us that “a long time ago in a brewery far far away a lager was brewed for the very first time….”. Flashbacks to a corny 1977 sci-fi movie that did OK.**
This Czech Style Pils Lager (all pilsners are lagers, but not all lagers are pilsners), pours golden with a bubbly white head but no carbonation evident. It has a light malt aroma. A nice malt flavour with a bit of fizz, there are some bubbles in there after all. Not hoppy or bitter, just malt and a bit of fizz, which faded. No graininess which sometimes comes with Czech style beers. What is left after the fizz fizzled was a nice solid and flavourful Pilsner, a cut above the big brewer pils, which is exactly what I would hope for and expect from the Sawdust team.
