At the Port House (not to be confused with The Portsmouth House) for a brunch of sorts, as in beer and lunch. A little day drinking is good for your mental health and your digestion so they say.* I spied an Old Credit brew on the menu, which brought back fond memories of a very special occasion. The date of March 8th, 2023 is indelibly etched in my mind. I remember quaffing an Old Credit pilsner with dinner that night, and Farmer Steve picked up the tab! Yes, you heard me right, he paid the bill! An event almost as rare as a Leaf’s parade down Bay Street.
Those fond memories combined with my pre and oft stated love of amber made for an easy alcohol appetizer choice. An Old Credit Amber Ale looked like just the ticket. A pour so clear I checked for any amber encased arthropods** but the coast was as clear as the beer. A great malt caramel aroma. It has a light watery mouthfeel with an easy drinking nice middlin’ malt caramel flavour. Very slight crisp on the finish but really quite smooth, a refreshing easy drinking amber, all the elements are well balanced.
I picked up the tab this time, and this Old Credit mainstay made it all worth it.
