When it comes to jobs that result in an early demise, a kamikaze pilot and a suicide bomber both come to mind, if they’re any good at their job that is. But if you want to talk about dangerous occupations look no further than the highway maintenance crews. A sign and a couple of plastic cones are the only thing protecting them from 3 tons of steel on wheels breezing by at 130 kms per hour in an 80 zone. All the no look lane change Larrys and the no signal Sallys, and all the Tokyo drifters who think a construction zone is just the next level on Grand Theft Auto, come flying by while texting a so-called friend about the neighbour’s cat that’s missing.
Our stalwart public works teams brave the elements, and the idiots, to pave the highways, paint the white lines and fill the potholes, to make life just a little bit easier for the rest of us. * Is that the type of toast that Dominion City had in mind when they named this brew Public Works? No one knows and I suspect even fewer care.
What I do know is this brew pours a thick OJ creamsicle shade with a thick white foamy picture perfect head that remained at one finger from first quaff until the grand finale. A great citrus juicy hoppy aroma leads right into a citrus fruit salad juicer with bitters right off the bat. The grapefruit bitters are there right away, no sequence, just a nice balanced combo. A full fluffy mouthfeel amplifies the juiciness. The juice and foamy head stay the course as the bitters back off a bit. A big swig brings back some big bitters.
This sweet citrus juicer eventually begins to sequence with a grapefruit bitter finish for that one two buckle your shoe combo. Very tasty. Public Works works for me.
