Double Ratclops

Bellwoods Brewery

8.0% Alcohol

Are two heads really better than one?

According to Bellwoods, the Ratclops is a mythical brewery beast. I picture a Darwinian metamorphosis of the Muridae family , hunkering down under the vats, feasting on yeast, gorging on ungainly grains, and ferreting away festering fermentations. The results being the aforementioned mutation that catches the eye, that being one of monocular vision. The double ratclops has been further mutated by increased alcohol content,* resulting in two heads of one eye each, which leads me to wonder if he has gained any depth perception.

This double pours double thick and as hazy as a New Year’s eve memory. A slim trim white single head on this double headed double. A great citrus mango OJ aroma that is nose worthy. First taste is super juicy OJ mango plus a boozy bite. Undoubtedly, indubitably, and dutifully a double. A boozy backend vodka or gin afterburner. The backend backs off a bit but never lets me off the hook or the juice. It’s settling into a strong and steady double.  It has a kick to it but I’m not seeing double, just drinking one. The great juicy hazy taste and past Bellwoods IPAs have me eager to try a single Ratclops too. Not sure about their triple though, I may not have the chops for that much Ratclops.

*Editor’s Comment: That may be an apt description of our reviewer as well.
