NWT Sun Dogs. Beauty, eh!

After before the dawn, now I am reflecting and refracting on a Sun Dog. * Coincidentally another Muskoka based brewer, Canvas has me seeing and drinking double. Although not uncommon, ** sun dogs are a rare and impressive display of multiple suns that no degree of daytime drinking can create or dampen. They seem to be more frequent in the North along with their unrelated and equally impressive cousin Aurora Borealis.

There are no daytime skyward phenomena to marvel at as I pop and pour this dogged double for a fireside sampling.  A very clear golden orangish pour, no haze or head present.  A super juicy citrus stone fruit aroma, nothing more.  First taste is a sweet citrus fruit fest (tangerine?), hopless with a boozy backend.  Even Gwen Stefani would have no doubt this is a double. *** Initially the boozy seemed a bit harsh but as we bit to know each other we began to mellow out together.

Would a Greek dyslexic think that a Helios is his Sun Dog? ***

I wouldn’t call this Dog (or our own dog for that matter) man’s best friend, but I did enjoy this Sun going down.

*Editor’s Comment: Sun dogs are bright halos and spots of light that appear on each side of the sun. They are the result of light refracted through ice crystals in the atmosphere.

*Editor’s Comment: You seeing and drinking doubles is not uncommon either.

***Editor’s Comment: Our reviewer seems to be feeling the effects of this double with some off the wall references. Gwen Stefani was the lead singer of the band No Doubt. The Greek God of the Sun was Helios.
