A visit to the nearest largest beer spa in the world meant a bite to eat at Clear Lake Brewery with an extra pale ale accompaniment. Great service and friendly staff as always. I was looking for something on tap I hadn’t tried before and sure enough I ordered a Splish Splash and next thing I know I was partying with Bobby Darin.*

Splish Splash in the Glass
A hazy XPA perfect pour by the expert barkeep, a nice hazy but not pale looking pour with a bright bubbly head. An almost non-existent aroma wasn’t giving anything away, maybe a splish of fruit and a splash of hops? First swig was very mild fruit and hops, as light as helium, I thought my voice was going to up a few octaves, wouldn’t that have been a kick in the ….., well you know what I mean.
A very easy drinking light pale ale. Not zingy or hoppy, just a suggestion of hops on the backend. My first thought was “too light” but we all know lasting impressions are more important than first ones. As I worked my way down the glass, it started to grow on me, and I settled into this XPA. A nice brew with a meal, and I imagine it would be a great icy summer well stocked cooler on the dock brew too. Light and refreshing.
The excellent friendly service at CL helped push this extra pale ale into the super suds category.
