Looking for craft beer at the store can feel like you’re judging an art exhibition. There are a myriad of colours and life-style images ranging from group of seven majestic pine outdoor scenes to art deco to graphic arts. You can find yourself drawn to the image which we all know is not the best way to judge the contents – but those marketing guys are clever and know how to manipulate us. 555 brewery has opted out of this marketing game and invested in the contents, not the label. They also didn’t waste any brain cycles trying to come up with a captivating name for the beer – it’s just Kolsch. The result can be tasted in the beer which is crisp, refreshing and straightforward.
Ok, so they didn’t invest in a snazzy graphic for the can …. but what about the beer? It delivers with no surprises. It is a Kolsch* which has a clean, crisp taste with just enough bitterness to make it interesting. A nice head on the pour, this brew delivers a smooth, easy drinking experience that is a real thirst quencher.
It won’t catch your eye on the rack at the store, but this beer is true to it’s origins. Delicious with a slight bitterness at the end – enough to make you want another sip.
