Sun Caught and Going Down

Chasing Sun

Port Rexton Brewing Co.

5.7% Alcohol

From the sometimes sunny shores of the East coast of Newfoundland, our friends from Port Rexton are at it again. Me I’m either chasing my tail or some wild geese, but they’re out chasing the sun. Actively seeking out moments of joy, happiness and positivity, a much more worthy pursuit if I do say so myself.

This after sundown sun chaser is a hazy burnt orange pour. A Jelly Bean Row* brewski as colourful as a Farmer Steve tall tale and far more believable. A just right foamy full head to top off this pretty pour. A mild tropical fruit breeze of an aroma, coming in off the bay. The taste is a juicy fruit citrus orange grapefruit opening combining with the malt body for a fun funkster of an IPA. No hops or bitters, a sunny disposition and a potentially crushable craft. Consistency and balance, this brew has now been big swig tested and passed with the flying colours. This sun is going down smooth and easy.

Yes, Newfoundland has colourful neighbours, colourful neighbourhoods, colourful crafts and colourful crushable craft brews like this tasty sun chaser. This brew provided me with a number of moments of joy and happiness, looks like I caught a bit of sun myself.

*Editor’s Comment: The background of the brew pic is from the Jelly Bean Row collection. Jelly Bean Row (or Jelly Bean Palette) is a block of very colourful houses on Wellington Row in downtown St. John’s Newfoundland first erected in the 1860’s and restored to their current colourful character in the 1970’s.
