Father of the Sun

King of the grill too!

On this Father’s Day I still have fond recollections of the auspicious award I received a few years ago. Best Father Ever! Not an accolade to take lightly. The plaque is proudly placed in a  prominent position on our kitchen cutting board rack.

So, it seemed fitting to celebrate the big day with a Blood Brothers brew, Father of the Sun. The Helios you say! No, the correct answer is actually Hyperion. * Helios, Hyperion, it’s all Greek to me. All I know is they juiced up this West Coast toast with some pineapple paradise terpenes, and here I am having no idea what that means but hoping it tastes as good as it sounds. **

A Father figure

A semi clear golden bright pour with a good as it gets foam head. A juicy hoppy aroma, lots of tropical going on here. Wow, first swig is a super juicer with full on hoppy pine bitters, living life large. The terpenes are alive and kicking in this one, just intensifying everything a bit. Pineapple tropical citrus with prickly pine bitters.

No codswallop here, those Blood Brothers have brewed up another bloody good brew.

Here’s hoping you had a well hydrated hoppy and Happy Father’s Day.

*Editor’s Comment: In Greek mythology Helios was the sun god. Hyperion was the original Titan god of heavenly light and watchfulness, and the father of the Sun, the Moon, and the dawn. Quite the list of progenies, some pretty high powered genes at work there.

**Editor’s Comment: Terpenes are a set of natural compounds found in hops. They produce a variety of aromatic flavours. Those flavours can be boosted by dry hopping or by adding the extracted terpenes themselves.
