The Cure for Nyctocervisiaphobia

Milk Chocolate Stout

Brock St. Brewing Co.

5.5% Alcohol

Sidney Sheldon asks us if we are afraid of the dark? Robert Cray implores us not to be.* If you suffer from nyctophobia**, that would be fear of the dark, I can’t help you there. But if you are a nyctocervisiaphobia*** sufferer, that would be fear of dark beer, I have found your cure.

Brock Street tell us that this beer is another one of their gold medal winners, this time in the Stout category at the Canadian Brewing Awards, and after sampling this stout I would say well deserved.

This cocoa stout pours an Amy Winehouse Back to Black, or is it AC/DC Back in Black? Let’s just say it pours black. Dark, rich and headless. An aroma of cocoa milk and some roast in this toast. Rich chocolate in the first swig but not too sweet. It is a smooth sweet and cocoa with a bit of coffee, the milk to smooth it out but still a bit of bite on the finish, all well balanced. In the dictionary beside the phrase “milk chocolate stout” there should be a picture of this beer.  This is the milk chocolate stout you have been looking for!

*Editor’s Comment: Sidney Sheldon’s last book, “Are You Afraid of the Dark”, was published in 2004. The album and title song by American blues musician Robert Cray “Don't Be Afraid of the Dark” was released in 1988. The song was written by Taylor Rhodes and Robert Albin (White) Johnson. Rhodes and Johnson also wrote Celine Dion's first English-language hit, the 2008 release “Where Does my Heart Beat Now”. Rhodes has collaborated with and written songs for a wide variety of artists, from Aerosmith to Ozzy Osbourne. White has written songs with Carl Wilson (the Beach Boys) and Lynyrd Skynyrd to name a few.

**Editor’s Comment: Fear of the dark is very common in children from ages 6 to 12, but nyctophobia is an extreme fear of night or darkness that can cause intense symptoms of anxiety and depression. A fear becomes a phobia when it’s excessive, irrational, or impacts your day-to-day life.

***Editor’s Comment: There is no such thing as nyctocervisiaphobia.
