If memory serves me well, I think Farmer Steve headed for the hills, and homesteaded around Caledon back in the day. His trusty Kubota at his side, with the missus and young folk along for the ride.
The Ballad of Farmer Steve
Come listen to my story about a farmer named Steve, fed up with the city so it was time to leave,
They said “North of TO is the place to have some fun”, so he gassed up the tractor and moved to Caledon.
Hills, that is. Car pools, craft beer bars.*
Sounds like the Caledon Hills are alive with the sound of music.
These days Caledon is all about the county fair, fat biking the trails and checking out the badlands. And after all that, stopping by Caledon Hills Brewing for a post fair, biking and hiking refreshment. You may even order a Hills VL if the mood strikes you. Which is my smooth as a sow’s ear segue into our review today.
Just like Farmer Steve, it’s time for us to head for the Hills. And this one pours a dark honey golden hue, clear and concise, with a bright white sunset like all us Cranky Old Men, just over the hills. An aroma of bready malt straight from a Vienna brewer and baker. The taste is smooth bread and malt with a touch of lager sweet. No hops or bitters to start with. As it warmed a bit a slight bitter finish emerged. A nice back to basic Vienna lager. Very easy drinking, sip, quaff, crush, (my favourite sequence), it does it all. A light easy drinking Vienna.
