Nick and Nora out on the town… without me!
Nick, Nora and I out on the town to down a Thin Man,* and that meant a visit to Beertown in downtown Hogtown. My man Sunny tells me to try their collab brew Trial by Muskrat. Which reminds me of that damn otter that keeps shitting on my dock, and I’m finding muskrat love **hard to come by.
This brew is a variation on Thin Man’s *** Trial by Wombat with Ontario peaches. And I love me a peach, cobbler, pie or off the tree. But in beer, not so much. Two peach pints sampled to date haven’t reached super suds status. So between my distaste for otters and their kin, and my concern about another peachy pint, I wasn’t too sure about this brew. Time to put this brew on a taste trial with a jury of one. And the verdict is…
A dark orange very hazy particles in suspension pour with lots of bubbles feeding a feisty foam fest, a bit headstrong. A stone fruit aroma smells juicy and tasty, I do love me a peach. The taste is a just right mild stone fruit with an airy mouthfeel and a slight flat crisp for a finish. The foam fested then faded leaving a next to no hops, stone cold fruit easy drinking NE IPA. Post foam provides a full mouthfeel from the oats. Not crazy peachy, just peachy. They went subtle instead of substantial with the fruit and ended up with a balanced brew in the process. This peach pint hit the spot. Good call Sunny.
