As a hard-working beer reviewer, I had an immediate affinity to this brew. Working hard is right.* Nose to the grindstone to meet the daily brew review deadline. Banging my head against the writer’s block wall, with fingers worn to the bone with writer’s cramp. Lost in the carpal tunnel with no light at the end, that being the end where all of us two finger typists end up in the end. Oscar Wilde had it right when he said “Work is the curse of the drinking class.” If it weren’t for the free beer I would have called it a day long ago. But the Muddy York team tell us they have been working hard on this brew, mixing hops, brewing and tasting until they have reached the ideal reward, a super tasty NEIPA which is vying for a COM super suds rating.
A hazy heady hard-working light orange golden pour. With a bright white head dead ahead. It has a juicy stone fruit and tropical aroma with some funky hops in there too. The taste is a light fizzy juicer, mango and more. no bitters, with just a bit of hoppy funk on the finish. Very tasty. Nice full mouthfeel too. Progressing with less fizz, less funk, and a little more juice, all their hard work is coming to fruit-ion. And coming into balance too. And it works!
A just right juicer is the fruit of their labours, with hushed hops adding a subtle exclamation point! It may be a hard worker but it sure is an easy drinker, just like me.
