They tell us over 700 years of brewing tradition has gone into this lager, and that “many connoisseurs find it to be one of the finest lagers in the world”. Big talk, time to back that up with a quaff.
Nice golden pour, quite clear, the only haze is a bit of condensation on my chilled glass. Mild malt grain aroma, with a bit of fruity hops in the mix. All very mild. I took a big first swig. You may be wondering, is this big first swig an approach that some of those connoisseurs from around the world also practice, a tasting technique, a malt master’s method perhaps? Nope, I was just thirsty.
Nice subdued malt, with some mild fruit from the hops but no bitter, no hoppiness. Smoother than some European lagers and pilsners because it doesn’t have that grainy malt taste/aftertaste which many have. Easy drinking, no surprises. It reminds me more of one of the better big brewery lagers rather than a craft lager. Good beer.
