Pils for your ills and ales for what ales ya’. Although I am feeling fine I think it’s time for my pils. You know the old saying, 16 ounces of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Old Ben Franklin spouted that advice back in the day and ended up on the US $100 bill so it must be true.*
They call this a “collectible” with the sights of Toronto adorning the can although I don’t think I will end up with a series of TO vistas on beer cans across the mantle. The Department of Morality was never much of a fan of beer can décor. It certainly didn’t collect any dust in my beer fridge, but I will be collecting 10 cents for it when I return it to the Beer Store. At my age the only thing I am thinking about collecting these days is a few more birthdays. Time to collect my thoughts and review the brew.
Longslice minus the long is a fair description of my golf game, although in this case it happens to be the name of the brewery that has whipped up this pilsner, in collaboration with Old Toronto. And a crystal clear golden pilsner it is. Damn that’s one clear beer. A snout full of old familiar, mild malt and bread. First quaff is malt and crisp and that’s all she wrote. Progress on the tasting front leads to a lite easy malt, and as the crisp fades this pils is as smooth as it is clear. This downtown pilsner goes down easy.
