Two High Tides a Day!

High Tide

Whitewater Brewing Co.

6.9% Alcohol

This is a New England high tide, but did you know that New Scotland actually has the highest tides in the world? Yes, Canada has the highest tides in the world at our very own Bay of Fundy, and as an added bonus you get two of them a day. Fact check that Mr. Editor.* Based on these facts it seems obvious that Deborah Harry was singing about the Bay of Fundy in her hit song “The Tide is High”. ** Both the Outlaws and the Rolling Stones combined their high tides with green grass for some high times.***

This Whitewater NEIPA pours an orange golden with a whitewater topper of a head. A juicy tropical aroma. A taste of juicy mild hops no real bitters, a nice refreshing easy drinking IPA. A bit of fizz instead of zing. As I neared the bottom of my glass I thought it would be nice to have a sequel. If I was visitng the Bay of Fundy would I would get two High Tides a day?. Maybe that should be on Nova Scotia’s travel brochure.

*Editor’s Comment: The Latin translation for Nova Scotia is in fact New Scotland. And yes, the Bay of Fundy has the highest recorded tides in the world at Burncoat Head with a Guinness Book World Record of 53.6 feet. The bay also experiences two high tides and two low tides each day. However, Maine, New England, is also on the Bay of Fundy and Eastport, Maine is the Easternmost city in the USA.

**Editor’s Comment: You should have quit while you were ahead. This “fact” in fact doesn’t check. It is highly doubtful that the 1980 Blondie number 1 hit “The Tide is High” is about the Bay of Fundy since it was written in 1967 by John Holt, a Jamaican singer/songwriter, and was originally performed by Holt’s Jamaican band The Paragons. By the way, high tide in Jamaica is only about 6.5 feet.

***Editor’s Comment: The song "Green Grass and High Tides" was released by the Outlaws on their 1975 debut album, and an early Rolling Stones greatest hits album "High Tides and Green Grass" was released in 1966.
