What’s In a Name?

Ball's Falls Session IPA

Bench Brewing Co.

4.5% Alcohol

Balls Falls sounds like a hernia to me. Not the most appealing name, maybe they should have a beer naming party? A name may help sell the beer (or not) but it has no bearing on its taste. So taste we shall.

First impression, a bit bubbly, but that settled by second quaff. A frisky, dare I say playful IPA. Crisp and fresh, and refreshing. And then the surprise faint floral finish.

Flowers are what I usually buy the day after our anniversary, not a taste I look for in my beer. ‎

Normally a floral taste would crank my crankiness crank, but with this IPA it works well. The brewers made sure it wasn’t overpowering, just a hint of flower or fruit. Seemed to ebb and flow, making every swig a bit of a different finish.

Check out JT’s review of Flowers. Flowers had a similar bubbly start to this one but a flowery flourish rather than a faint floral finish.* Lesson learned, add just a touch otherwise it’s a touch too much.

This session IPA was a nice surprise.

*Editor’s Comment: Do you think you could squeeze any more alliterations in this review?

** Reviewer’s Comment: Possibly, perhaps, perchance, Parcheesi.
