Winding Run? More like a winded run for me. The fine folks at Sawdust City tell us that Fall is a great time for a morning run through the woods. A morning run for me these days is a hop in the truck and over to Timmies for a Large Regular and a box of muffins. Way back in the day one of our favourite “morning” runs was the 12:45AM sprint from the Manor to the Ports to catch their later last call. *
We may have different ideas of what a great morning run looks like but I think we are pretty well aligned when it comes to one of our evening pastimes. Popping the top and quaffing a cold SC brew or two. This lagered ale is made from freshly harvested hops from the Backroads Hop Farm. Not to be confused with Fonger’s backyard “hemp” farm.
A clear golden pour, some would say bright, with a healthy heaping head, a foamy froth. Mainly malt and a brace of fresh hops in the aroma. The first taste is bready malt lager sweet with a crisp slightly hoppy finish and a touch of a floral aftertaste. Nice sequence, all well balanced. Full approaching creamy mouthfeel. This ale is just unique enough to be an ale of distinction, and just down to earth enough to be a fridge stocker. Another balancing act that SC has mastered. This Winding Run was so tasty I walked in a straight line to the ol’ beer fridge to see if I had another one.
