How Do I Like My Coffee?

Coffee Porter

Haliburton Highlands Brewing

5.5% Alcohol

How do I like my coffee you ask. In a porter or stout of course. It’s time for more high times in the Haliburton highlands with our favourite ukelele* strumming brewer, Haliburton Highlands.  This time they are in a duet with their neighbour Haliburton County Coffee Roasters to entertain us with a coffee porter, and us COM are here to drink it all in. Let’s see if this cup of joe has the mojo that we go fo.

I have come to realize that a coffee porter, done right, is one of my favourites. Done wrong, not so much.  When it comes to the aforementioned porter, time to tell if HH knows the difference between right and wrong.

A perfect Poppy stein pour, tan head intact and some deep dark brown going down. A pour as rich as Farmer Steve.** Definitely some coffee content expressoing itself in the aroma, but the cocoa isn’t taking a backseat to anyone. First taste is a dark roast malt with some coffee and a cocoa sweet smooth finish. A fervent flavour, strong and good. It is strong but so tasty that big swigs are not only possible and plausible, but probable and ultimately pleasurable.

Definitely tasty coffee from the County in there, but a just right amount that ends up being very well balanced with the rest of the porter.

How do I like my coffee? Just like this. It’s a full flavoured porter lover’s porter, and since I’m a porter lover, I love it. HH and coffee porter both done right.

*Editor’s Comment: This Haliburton Highlands brewer have the largest ukelele collection in Canada in their tap room.

**Editor's Comment: And as thick as our reviewer.
