A Collaboration Celebration

Sawdust City and Flying Monkeys

5% Alcohol

When two of our favourite brewers get together it calls for a collaboration celebration. If you are thinking to yourself, “what’s the big deal, it’s just a pilsner” I think you need to rethink your thinking. This is no ordinary, typical, run of the mill, common place pils. Sawdust City and Flying Monkeys are combining Czech style mash with Canadian and German malts and Aussie hops. This beer is not just international, it’s intercontinental!

A bright clear golden pour with a bright white fulsome frothsome head. An APA aroma of fruit and hops was the first indication that this is not your father’s pils.  The first taste yields a nice light malt body with some mild tropical fruit notes and a crisp dry bit of bitter finish and aftertaste. The touch of fruit really perks up this precocious pint of pils. A bit more fruit and I think you would have a pale ale going down.

Adam Smith, the father of modern-day capitalism, and I have a few things in common. We are both fans of beer and of Free Trade. * This multi-nation collaboration celebration exceeded all expectations.

*Editor’s Comment: Adam Smith in his pivotal 1776 work “Wealth of Nations” laid out the basic concepts of economics and capitalism. One of the main tenets in his works was minimal government intervention and he was a proponent of free trade. He referenced beer frequently in his writings and was known to indulge on occasion although he was an advocate of moderation.

Final Rating: Even with No Tariffs this is a 17 out of 20
