The Baie Verte peninsula is “au couer du petit nord” according to this beer can. What I do know is the town of Baie Verte is about a 6 hour drive North of St. John’s, 7 hours if it’s raining hard enough to float the ark, don’t you Noah. Up here you can watch whales or drink ales. I thought if I saw a whale it would be a fluke, so I stuck with what I know best and had a cream ale from the local Baie Verte brewer, the Little North Brewhouse. This brewer tells us that Good Friday is dedicated to ice fishing on the pond or a boil up in the woods.* According to the Department of Morality Good Friday is the start of one of the weekends I have to go to church, so I don’t think a Good Friday tailgate party in the woods is on my social calendar. But most other Fridays it could be arranged.
Little North has a big old cod on the line waiting to be caught in a kiss.** Being a fresh water fisherman of sorts*** I am in awe of the East coast fishing culture and catches. This is one part of the world where net zero is not a long-term goal.
How about this brew you say, you haven’t got all day you say, me saying you say is starting to bug you, you say. Okay, say no more, I’m on the case. A frosty golden pour with a bubble or two. A creamy bright white head, quick to settle. A malt bread fresh aroma with some fruit, the first taste has a pale ale kind of thing going on. It tastes crisp clear and clean with a nice mouthfeel, maybe some faint apple in the background. The fruit is too pale to be a pale. No hops just a mild crisp finish. Refreshing with two “r”s at least. Three and it would be a would be a refresher. A big creamy swig yields “la meme chose” and it’s all the same in English too. I do like the full mouthfeel you get from a full mouthful of this one. I really enjoyed this cream dream of an ale. Good Friday made good on this thirsty Thursday.
It’s time for a Good Friday full scale Bob’s your uncle boil up boyos, and hopefully I can still make it to the church on time.

Awesome review! Fun read!
