Kiwis
I’ve racked up a few frequent flyer miles in my day, been to some faraway lands, some exotic destinations. No jet setting but lots of jet lagging. But you get to a certain point in your life where you know there are some places you just aren’t ever going to get to. Like New Zealand for example. Sounds like a great place to visit and see some sheep shearing, check out the kiwis (bird, fruit and the general populace), and sup on a sweet pavlova with a NZ espresso. * The island country also happens to be a very popular craft hop cultivator these days.

Pavlovas
Kiwi hops are not new to Silversmith, we previously enjoyed their Motueka pils. But with this kiwi pale ale the brewer celebrates their 12th anniversary, and that’s not the only thing they’re celebrating. How about a business of the year award! I think that deserves a toast.
A hazy golden pour with itty bitty bubbles emanating from down under. Fresh fruit on the snoot. First quaff is a tropical fruit taste treat, with a crisp finish and some bitters on the aftertaste. A very dry aftertaste encouraging the next swig, and the next one and the next one. A perpetual thirst, first slaked then piqued. Very tasty. I was tempted to big swig it but to be honest I was enjoying it so much I wanted to make it last. This is just what I hope for when a pop the top on a pale ale.
I’ll never get to the land of the kiwi (bird, fruit, or people) so this brew will have to do. And do it does.
