It’s not The Oar anymore, it’s Lamorna in Residence at The Oar. * As far as I’m concerned, I don’t care who’s living in the upstairs apartment, as long as the menu has a brew or two that are new to you know who. The food menu is updated too, with some high falutin’ uptown viddles going down. Let’s put it this way, you aren’t going to get a Happy Meal™ with truffles in it.
So along with my fancy pants meal I quaffed a laid back NEIPA from Couchiching. Time to see if their Meadow Haze is outstanding in its field.
A not quite light ABV on this light bright very full glass. No room for a head on this not quite over the top pour of plenty. It does look soft and hazy, a mellow meadow of slightly burnt golden.
It has a light fresh fruit aroma. The first taste is citrus stone fruit juice to a malt funk, not at all hoppy or bitter. It has a bit of fizz on the back end with a dry aftertaste, encouraging another quaff. Very mild hoppy bitters started to show up to try to balance things out. A slick smooth mouthfeel. Peach citrus juice malt to very mild bitters. A moderate mild malt no hop juicer, perhaps Mellow Haze would be a more apropos moniker? Perhaps.
