A Parsons Pint Brew Review Turns One into Two

Noice

Parsons Brewing Co.

Parsons. The name sounded familiar. I do have a couple of Alan Parsons Project LPs, and I have attended church when required to, but I never dated the Parsons daughter. * But I think I remember seeing a Parsons at one of the COMDB AGMs (Annual Golf Meeting) but it wasn’t reviewed. I think RA might have quaffed one or two of these back in the day, could’ve even been yesterday. The website suds search button tells me we’ve only formally reviewed one Parsons to date. Time to review this brew and turn that one into two.

This Parsons pint pours perfectly. Light golden semi clear beer, some seaside foam and a few bubbles to boot. It has a mild hoppy funky aroma. First taste is tropical fruit with mild hops, a bit of fizz and some very slight bitters. It’s busy but balanced. A mouthfeel somewhere in between creamy and watery, a half full mouthfeel for you optimists out there. Easy drinking enough to be a session but too flavourful to be one. Some bitters start to show up late in the game.

And in case you were wondering about the name, “Noice” isn’t a request to the bartender for your scotch neat. It’s Aussie slang, how Crocodile Dundee would say “nice”. Noice on ice, now that’s nice. **

This isn’t just a noice IPA, it’ s a great one.

*Editor’s Comment: The Parsons Daughter is a 1987 book by Catherine Cookson and a 2016 song by Black Water Country. “The sweetest thing I ever knew was the parsons daughter, In truth I knew her better than the parson thought I oughta”.

**Editor’s Comment: Noice anagram.
