Note to self.
Flight delayed, time on my hands, looks like a good excuse to sample another Newfoundland brewski. I’m bidding a fond farewell to the Rock and hoisting a hope to see you again soon toast with a preflight pint.

Picking a fight.
Enter the Fighting Irish. Am I advancing my education at Notre Dame? Nope, just partaking in a raucous red. It seems ironic to me that YellowBelly has a Fighting Irish, but no cowardly hide in the corner beer this one. My fight or flight reflex is well honed, I much prefer a flight.* That’s right, I would be the first one to shy away from a fight, but quite possibly the last one to shy away from a beer.
A dark red almost glowing pour, a white slightly crimson Irish red head no less. A full malt aroma, fierce and feisty and ready to rumble. First taste is lots of caramel with a rough and ready malt hop one two punch. Almost too much caramel, it’s malty and creamy. Yes, creamy malty sweet with a slightly harsh bitter finish and aftertaste.
This brew mellowed at about the same pace as I did, resulting in a relaxing rather than rowdy red. Rough and ready morphed into smooth and steady. With all the fight out of it, what’s left is a nice full-flavoured red ale.
